E. Marie Denig- Marie was born in Michigan, grew up in Oklahoma and has been a glad resident of North Carolina since 1999. Marie is an Interlochen National Music Camp alumni (piano and trumpet). At Northern Oklahoma College, she studied voice with Mariann Cook (Anna understudy with Yule Brenner, “The King and I” second National Tour) and studied accompanying, coaching and conducting with Gerald Steichen (music director National Tours of “Phantom of the Opera,” “The Secret Garden,” “Lucky Stiff,” “Peter Pan.” NYC studio accompanist for a Luciano Pavarotti.) Marie later attended Oklahoma City University with studio mate Kelli O’Hara where she studied choral conductiong with Dr. Stephen Coker.

In North Carolina, Marie worked for several years as a musical theatre accompanist at Elon University (#4 Musical Theatre Program in the country.) While there, she was fortunate to play for many amazing students in private lessons, Musical Theatre Scene Study Classes and in several productions. Significantly, Grant Gustin (The Flash) Wilbert Barret Weed (Heathers and Mean Girls), and Gina Claire Mason (Wicked) and Chris Wood (Supergirl.)
After the birth of her son, Gabe, Marie transitioned to become the Musical Theatre Music Director and musical theatre accompanist at Greensboro College, where she served for six years before moving to Hickory in 2019. Since moving to Hickory, Marie has music directed for Hickory Community Theatre, The Green Room Community Theatre and Hickory High School. She maintains a significant studio of private students through Hickory Music Factory. Marie resides in Claremont with her son Gabe and their beagle, Penny. She is looking forward to getting married in June.
